Winnipeggers and their pets descended on Assiniboine Park this morning for Paws in Motion, the Winnipeg Humane Society's annual walk-a-thon.
The humane society estimates that more than 1,000 people came to the park with their canine friends for Sunday's event, which aims to raise $300,000 for its spay and neuter programs.
Christine Boult, the society's director of development, said everyone was smiling — even the people who had to wait to drive into the park.
"Everybody was smiling when they looked at the long line of animals behind us. It was kind of fun," she said.
