Winnipeg police have arrested a man and woman in connection with the city's latest homicide, in which a 30-year-old man was attacked early Thursday morning.
The fatal assault happened just before 12:30 a.m. in an alley near the intersection of Sherbrook Street and Sargent Avenue, in the city's West End.
Police haven't released many details and are still on the scene investigating, but relatives of the victim identified him to CBC News as Clarence Ross, 31.
His aunt, Mary Ross, said he was on his way to her house when the assault occurred.
Neighbours told CBC News the alley is commonly used by drug dealers, but Ross said her nephew was not into drugs.
Late Thursday afternoon, police announced that a man and woman have been taken into custody in connection with the incident.
Charges against the pair are pending, according to police.
Clarence Ross's death is the city's 15th homicide of this year.
