Norway House shooting injures man, boy
A 23-year-old man from Norway House, Man., and his three-year-old son are recovering in a Winnipeg hospital after they were shot on Saturday night.
RCMP say the incident took place around 11:30 p.m. CT at a home at the Norway House Cree Nation, located about 450 kilometres north of Winnipeg in northern Manitoba.
Police say the man, who was living in the home, answered a knock on the door and saw an unknown male suspect wearing winter clothes with his face covered.
The man shut the door when the suspect produced a firearm, but a number of shots were fired through the closed door. The suspect then fled, according to police.
The man and his son were flown to Winnipeg with non-life-threatening injuries to the lower body. Police did not release their names on Sunday.
The Norway House RCMP detachment are investigating the case, along with the police force's major crimes and forensic identification units. No arrests have been made to date.
