Museum fire in St. Georges was arson, police confirm

RCMP confirmed Friday that a fire at a museum in St. Georges, Man. was arson.

Powerview RCMP said Friday the fire that destroyed historic artifacts and a large part of a museum in St. Georges was arson.

The fire started early Saturday morning, May 17.

Many people who gathered at the site said their own families had donated personal articles to document the community's French origins.

Police said Friday the incident is still under investigation and they are not releasing any further information at this time.
