Minitonas woman dead after trying to flag down vehicle
Police say driver not intoxicated but alcohol may be a factor in woman's death
A 28-year-old Minitonas woman is dead after she was hit by a car she was trying to flag down for a lift.
Swan River RCMP said it happened just after midnight Saturday at the intersection of Highway 10 and Provincial Road 150 West, near Minitonas, Man.
The woman was struck when she stepped onto the road, police said.
She was treated on the scene and taken to the Swan River Valley Health Centre, where she died.
Police said the driver of the vehicle, a 32-year-old man from Brandon, and his passenger suffered minor injuries in the collision.
They said the driver was not intoxicated but alcohol appeared to be a factor for the pedestrian.
Police are not releasing the name of the victim.
Their investigation continues.
