Medical marijuana users marched through downtown Winnipeg Saturday to protest coming changes on how they get their drug.
New rules to take effect April 1 that will prohibit medical pot users from growing the drug at home.
On Friday, an injunction was granted, allowing those who have a personal production licence to grow medical marijuana to continue for now, pending the outcome of a trial to be held at a later date.
Winnipegger Steven Stairs, one of the protesters, has been using medical marijuana since 2009 to treat his glaucoma.
"I think this initial decision is the first great step in a long, hard fought battle," he said. "Hopefully, with public perception changing in our favour, rallies like this won't have to be a commonplace. But until then, they are going to happen all the time."
