A water main break flooded a major underpass in Winnipeg on Monday morning, forcing commuters to find another route.

The McPhillips Street underpass was closed to traffic in both directions from Logan Avenue to Jarvis Avenue.

Crews were in knee-deep water for a few hours, trying to fix the problem and drain the temporary lake.

The lanes are now open once again.
