Maria Aragon's father says his daughter's manager is a good guy despite the fact that he's been charged with defrauding five people of $7.1 million.
The 13-year-old Winnipeg singer shot to fame when Lady Gaga noticed a YouTube video of her singing "Born This Way."
Toronto police said, her manager, Steven Joshua Nowack, 50, presented himself as a foreign-currency traded and convinced clients to invest with him in his pool of funds on the foreign exchange market.
Nowack never returned the invested money although he had claimed there were large profits made, police said.
He is facing five counts of fraud over $5,000 and two counts of uttering forged documents.
Aragon's father says he will reserve to place judgment until the court makes a decision on Nowack's charges.
Nowack made his first court appearance in October.
The investigation has now expanded internationally — police said there may be more victims.
