Manitobans celebrate winter sport in their own wacky ways
The Olympics may be keeping many Manitobans glued to their television sets and computer screens.
But others are out enjoying a few winter sports of their own.
Three events Saturday attracted Manitobans who aren't afraid of a little ice and snow.
The University of Manitoba was the site of the Ice Donkey Winter Adventure race, a kind of wild and wacky romp.
The Saint Boniface branch of the local Alpine Club of Canada held an ice climbing demonstration to coincide with their sport being a demonstration event at Sochi.
And there was the chill-inducing Polar Plunge at the Indian and Metis Friendship Centre.
