Manitoba RCMP charged with assault while on the job
Charges stem from incident involving 18-year-old suspect in May
A Manitoba RCMP officer has been charged with assault involving a teenager from Cross Lake.
RCMP said the charges stem from an incident that happened May 1 when a Cross Lake area officer was arresting an 18-year-old man.
RCMP provided little detail on the circumstances of the incident but did say an assault allegedly happened during the booking process at the Cross Lake Detachment.
In August, Const. Jason Ross MacGillivray was charged with assault. The 29-year-old appeared in a Manitoba court on Tuesday.
MacGillivray is now suspended with pay. The officer has been with the RCMP for five years.
