More than 3,200 Manitobans have registered with an online organ donor database since it launched a week ago.
Sign Up for Life has attracted 3,237 registered users since it went online on April 23, according to health officials working on the website.
More than 1,000 prospective organ and tissue donors signed up within eight hours of the site being launched, officials added.
The site allows any resident of Manitoba, aged 18 or older, to declare their intention to be an organ or tissue donor, using their nine-digit health card number to register.
The information will be stored in a secure government database, which can be accessed quickly by doctors.
Sign Up for Life is being run by the provincial government and the Winnipeg Regional Health Authority.
