Manitoba boarders hit slopes, get soaked at Stony Mountain Slush Cup
Snowboarders and skiers hydroplane across open water at the base of hill for annual season-ending event
Skiers and boarders said goodbye to winter Friday as they hydroplaned over open water at Stony Mountain Ski Area’s annual Slush Cup.
Snowboarders zoomed down and attempted to get across a cold stretch of water at the bottom of the ski hill.
Some were good at it — others weren’t so lucky.
It's the last official day of skiing at Stony Mountain. Heather Campbell-Dewar, who is part-owner, said this has been one of the longest seasons they've ever had and the Slush Cup puts punctuation on the season’s end.
She said despite the long season, the days and days of super cold temperatures will still hurt her bottom line.
