A 19-year-old man died Monday after being struck by a vehicle that fled the scene just outside the city of Thompson.

RCMP were called to Highway 391 just before 2 a.m. about a man lying on the road, just south of the entrance to the Thompson Golf Course.

The man was transported to hospital and was pronounced dead a short time later.

His name will not be released to the public, police said.

The man was wearing dark clothing and cycling at the time he was hit, police said, adding the vehicle may have been white in colour.
