A 23-year-old man is in hospital after a shooting in Winnipeg's North End on Friday.

Police say a man with gunshot wound knocked on the door of a home in the 400 block of Aberdeen Avenue just after 4 a.m., asking for someone to call an ambulance.

Police said they don't know exactly where the shooting happened and the victim is not cooperating with them.

He was shot in the midsection and was initially listed in critical condition but has been upgraded to unstable condition.

Officers are still in the area investigating.
