The death of a 21-year-old man in Brandon on the weekend has been deemed a homicide.

Duane John Lacquette's body was found inside a residence in the 3600 block of Centennial Drive on Saturday evening.

He failed to show up for work and his body was discovered when people went looking for him, police said.

An autopsy revealed Lacquette died of blunt force injuries to his upper body, according to police, who don't believe it was a random attack.

Meanwhile, the death of a second person found in Brandon that same weekend is no longer considered suspicious, police said.

Police were called about 11:30 a.m. Sunday after an unconscious and bleeding 26-year-old man was found in the back yard of a residence on Empress Bay.

Emergency personnel pronounced the man dead at the scene.

An autopsy has ruled out foul play but the exact cause of death has still not been determined, police said.

Additional test results are pending and any further investigation will depend on that report from the medical examiner, police said.
