Winnipeg police are investigating the death of a 40-year-old man who had a "medical emergency" while he was in custody.
Police say the man was arrested on Thursday in connection with a disturbance that happened earlier that day.
He was taken to the police service's north Winnipeg district station and officers put him in an interview room, where he later "suffered a medical emergency," police said in a news release.
The man was taken to hospital in critical condition, but he died on Monday. Police did not release his name but said family members have been notified.
Officers with the homicide unit are investigating.
The officers that were involved in the man's case have been placed on administrative leave, according to police.
