A man was sent to Winnipeg hospital in critical condition Thursday afternoon after being stabbed with what police describe as a “large sword.”

On Thursday afternoon, an argument broke out between two men in the 100 block of Henry Avenue, according to police.

Things escalated, and police said one of the men then stabbed the other with a large sword multiple times.

A 42-year-old man was rushed to hospital in critical condition where he was later upgraded to stable.

After an investigation by the major crimes unit, an 18-year-old man was charged with assault with a weapon.

He remains in custody.
