Police are investigating an alleged abduction attempt at a Winnipeg elementary school.

It happened Tuesday during the noon hour, according to police, who said an 11-year-old girl had been in the area of Mountain Avenue and McGregor Street when a pickup truck pulled alongside her and the driver began rolling down the window.

The girl ran to the intersection of Mountain and Andrews Street where she told a school patrol about it. The patrol, an 11-year-old boy, told the girl to run to the school, which she did.

The truck then drove up to the patrol and the driver got out and told the boy, “get in the truck now,' according to police.

The patrol immediately ran to the school.

The suspect is described as 50 to 60 years old with short, white hair and a bald spot in front. He also had facial hair and was wearing a plaid jacket and blue jeans.
The vehicle is described as an older, black GMC Sierra with a custom front grill and dark tinted windows.

Anyone with information is asked to contact investigators at 204-986-2848 or Crime Stoppers at 204-786-TIPS (8477).
