A 31-year-old man was sent to hospital after being stabbed and robbed on the river at The Forks in Winnipeg.

It happened at about 7 p.m. Sunday on the river near the harbour, police said.

The man was skiing on the river when he was confronted by three unknown males, one which was armed with a weapon, police said.

The three males tried to take the man's wallet and during the struggle, the victim was stabbed, police added. The man was then able to break free and get away.

Police were called and the suspects — a 23-year-old man, a 16-year-old boy and 17-year-old boy — were found and arrested in the area.

The victim, who suffered minor injuries, was treated at the hospital and released.
