Police said they responded to a call to the Holiday Towers building at 160 Hargrave St. Saturday morning about a fire.

A man was taken to hospital, later dying of his injuries.

A witness told CBC News they believe a fire broke out on the 14th floor of Holiday Towers. A fire alarm sounded and residents exited the building, they said.

One witness said they saw detectives searching the building. Another witness said they saw paramedics working on someone in the lobby Saturday morning.

No further details about what happened are available, but police confirmed Sunday the homicide unit is now investigating.
