An 18-year-old man who was found critically injured in a North End Winnipeg back lane on Saturday night has been upgraded to stable condition, according to police.

The man was taken to hospital in critical condition after he was found in a back lane near Dufferin Avenue sometime after 11 p.m. Saturday.

He was located in the vicinity of Dufferin and Salter Street, where a 17-year-old boy was found with upper-body injuries. He later died in hospital.

Neighbours have told CBC News the younger male was stabbed just metres away from his home.

Police have not confirmed or denied reports that the teen was stabbed, nor have they said how the 18-year-old was injured.

Homicide investigators continue to interview people in connection to the case, police said in a release Monday morning. No arrests have been announced at this time.
