A 58-year-old man from Rivers, Man. fell about seven metres to his death while working on a roof of a hangar building at a decommissioned air force base in the community.
RCMP said the man was an employee of a business that now occupies the property. He was at work on the roof of the hangar when he fell off at some point after noon on Wednesday.
He was rushed to hospital in Brandon by ambulance, but was pronounced dead shortly after 1 p.m., police said.
Foul play is not suspected in his death, RCMP said.
His name is not being released.
Rivers is located 250 kilometres northwest of Winnipeg.
The man's death comes on a national day of mourning for workers killed or injured on the job.
