Man dead after 'mutually agreed on fight,' police say
Winnipeg police are investigating the death of a 19-year-old man after police say he and a family member mutually agreed to fight each other.
Officers responded to a home in the 100 block of Bondar Bay at about 1 p.m. Saturday, after receiving a call that a man was unresponsive.
Investigators said the night before the 19-year-old and the other man were intoxicated when they agreed to fight each other. .
On Saturday the man was not responsive.
"It's an unfortunate story," said Const. Jason Michalyshen with the Winnipeg police. "These individuals know each other, they know each other very well and for whatever reason they got involved in a dispute that escalated."
The Homicide Unit and Forensic Identification Section continue to investigate.
Police have identified a relative as a suspect in the case, however, charges are pending the results of an autopsy.
The name of the deceased has not been released
