The crash happened at about 8 a.m. in the 600 block of Moray Street, at Saulteaux Crescent.

The pedestrian was initially rushed to hospital in critical condition.

"It did look as if a passenger was ejected because of the crushed windshield, but I think it might have been from the pedestrian hitting it from the outside," said D'Anne Hansen, who was at the scene moments after the crash.

About 10 to 15 emergency vehicles had responded to the scene at one point, a CBC reporter on the scene said.

The crash is under investigation and police said excessive speed might have been a factor.
