A 23-year-old man has been charged in connection to a robbery spree in Winnipeg.

In each of the crimes, which targeted eight businesses between Oct. 31 and Nov. 6, a man armed with a knife stole an undisclosed amount of cash and cigarettes from gas bars, grocery stores and convenience stores.

The list includes:

  • Oct. 31 – 5:24 p.m. – convenience store – 1300 block of Main Street
  • Nov. 1 – 4:12 a.m. – Convenience store – 700 block of Mountain Avenue
  • Nov. 4 – 3:53 a.m. – Gas bar – 1300 block of McPhillips Street
  • Nov. 4 – 6:56 a.m. – Gas bar - 800 block Leila Avenue
  • Nov. 4 – 12:47 p.m. – Grocery store – 500 block of Mountain Avenue
  • Nov. 4 – 1:23 p.m. – Grocery store – 400 block of Mountain Avenue
  • Nov. 4 – 5:40 p.m. – Grocery store – 600 block of Stella Avenue
  • Nov. 6 – 4 p.m. – Grocery store – 1300 block of Mountain Avenue

The spree ended with the man's arrest on Nov. 6 in the 500 block of Selkirk Avenue.

He is charged with eight counts of robbery with a weapon, two counts of wearing a disguise and 11 counts of breach of probation.

He has been detained at the Winnipeg Remand Centre.
