Man charged in unprovoked stabbing on Evanson Street
A 56-year-old man has been charged in connection with a stabbing in Winnipeg's Wolseley neighbourhood that sent another man to hospital on Saturday afternoon.
Police say they were called to the 200 block of Evanson Street at around 4:35 p.m. Saturday and found a 28-year-old man with multiple stab wounds in his upper body.
The injured man was taken to hospital in stable condition.
The attack was unprovoked, say police, who add that the incident involved two acquaintances who live in the neighbourhood.
Both men were in a common area of an apartment building when the 56-year-old produced a knife and started stabbing the victim and threatening to kill him, according to police.
The suspect was arrested at the scene. Police say he has been charged with aggravated assault and uttering threats to cause death or bodily harm.
The incident happened at The Madison, a supportive housing apartment block operated by Siloam Mission.
