A 29-year-old man was airlifted to hospital by STARS on Sunday after rolling his ATV in a remote area east of Lake Winnipeg near Stead, Man.

The air ambulance service was called to the remote wooded area at 2 p.m. CT where the victim was found suffering from serious injuries.

Local fire and ambulance officials were also at the scene.

The unidentified man was transported to hospital by STARS in unstable condition.

Weekend crashes

17-year-old is facing impaired driving charges after losing control of the ATV and crashing near the casino on the Keeseekoowenin First Nation early Saturday.

An 18-year-old female passenger on the off-road vehicle was injured in the collision and was unconscious when emergency crews arrived.

RCMP said the male teen is now facing charges under the Off Road Vehicle Act.

On Friday, a 46-year-old man from Little Saskatchewan First Nation died after his ATV hit a utility pole.

A 24-year-old female passenger from Fairford was treated at the scene for unspecified injuries.

Police said neither was wearing a helmet at the time. Speed and alcohol are also considered factors.
