Man, 39, charged in fatal crash near Manitoba music festival
Impaired driving causing death charges laid after pedestrian killed at Minnedosa’s Rockin’ the Fields
RCMP have laid multiple charges against a 39-year-old man after a crash killed a pedestrian and injured two others earlier this week in Minnedosa.
The fatal crash happened near Minnedosa’s Rockin’ the Fields, an annual music festival at Lake Minnedosa.
About 3 a.m., people were walking along the shoulder of a highway near the festival’s entrance when a driver hit a man and woman, kept going, and hit another man, RCMP said.
A 25-year-old man and 23-year-old woman were rushed to hospital where the man succumbed to his injuries. Both the woman and the lone male pedestrian who was hit later survived.
Now, 39-year-old Christopher Palaschuk has been charged with impaired driving causing death, impaired driving causing bodily harm and two counts of failing to remain at the scene of an accident.
He’s expected to appear in a Minnedosa court on Aug. 7.
