After being rescued in downtown Winnipeg two weeks ago, a lucky feline is now looking for a new home.

On March 26, the cat darted into morning rush hour traffic at the corner of Portage Avenue and Memorial Boulevard.

Officers swept into action, briefly closing the intersection and coaxing out the cat, which had dashed under their cruiser for safety.

Gabriel, as he's now known, has called the Winnipeg Humane Society home since the rescue.

Staff say he's very friendly and ready now to be adopted.
