Loaded handgun seized from Texas man at Manitoba border
A 57-year-old Texas man was charged after Canadian border guards seized a loaded handgun and extra rounds of ammunition as he tried to get into Manitoba.
The weapon was seized June 21 at the Lyleton port of entry in southwestern Manitoba.
Officers with the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) found the 9 mm gun and two fully-loaded magazines in a concealed duffle bag in the man's truck.
The man was arrested and later released on a recognizance to appear in Winnipeg provincial court in August.
So far this year, CBSA officers in southern Manitoba have seized seven undeclared firearms.
