Spring is taking a long time to arrive in Manitoba and while the weather has got a lot of people feeling down, the extended winter has been welcome to many skiers.
Stony Mountain Ski Hill hopes to set a record this weekend for the longest the hill has ever been open.
"Our previous record was in 1997, when we had the flood of the century and that April blizzard," said Heather Dewar-Campbell, who runs the ski hill.
"We were open until April 20 that year, and this year we’re going to beat it by being open until April 21."
Dewar-Campbell said there is a 75-centimetre base of snow, so it will easily pass the record.
