Liberals pledge $44.5M for daycare, early education
Manitoba Liberals promise, if elected to govern, to spend an extra $44.5 million over five years on early childhood education and to boost daycare spaces.
Party leader Jon Gerrard picked a south Winnipeg daycare centre to suggest the NDP government is all talk and no action when it comes to daycare.
He pointed out the Little Saints daycare has 38 spaces and they're all full, with 188 children on the waiting list.
Gerrard said mothers have to put their children on waiting lists before they're born to try to secure a space.
Much of the promised money would target children under two years old whose parents have a particularly tough time finding child care.
