Michael Hutchinson took a moment to let the reality of his dream sink in.

Then he got down to business.

The 24-year-old rookie goaltender for the Winnipeg Jets played in his first-ever NHL regular-season game on Monday night, stopping all but one shot that came his way.

Unfortunately, that one goal was all the Minnesota Wild needed to seal a win, dropping the Jets 1-0 in Winnipeg.

Despite the loss, Hutchinson told reporters after the game that the experience was a positive one.

"As soon as you step out on the ice, the rink's so loud, and when you hear your name announced and everyone cheering — that's when you kind of take that second to really enjoy it and kind of realize where you are," he said.

"You only have one first game."
