Jets Ladd named NHL first star of the week
Jets captain Andrew Ladd has been named the NHL's first star of the week.
He earned eight points (2g, 6a) and a pair of shootout goals in his last three games, helping his team to a 2-0-1 record in that time.
The Maple Ridge, B.C. native is currently riding a career-best seven-game point streak, during which time he has scored four goals and had at least one assist in every game, totaling 10 over the streak, according to a news release from the Jets.
New York Rangers’ Brad Richards and San Jose Sharks’ Logan Couture were named the second and third stars of the week, respectively.
Ladd, 27, currently leads the Jets in scoring on the season with 46 points (18G, 28A) through 45 games played.
He leads the team in both goals and assists and is tied for the team lead in game-winning goals with four.
