Jeff Stoughton’s Winnipeg curling team breaks up
Stoughton says teammate John Mead no longer wants to curl with him
Manitoba’s Jeff Stoughton has confirmed his rink is breaking up.
Stoughton told CBC his Charleswood curling team is all going their separate ways.
The team is made up of Stoughton, John Mead, Reid Caruthers and Mark Nichols.
Stoughton said Mead plans to move on from the team and may or may not curl with another team in the future.
He added Nichols is expecting a baby and will be moving to be with his family on the east coast, while Caruthers wants to be on a team that will make an Olympic push in 2018.
Stoughton said he plans to keep curling, and Mead would be his first choice, but Mead no longer wants to curl with him.
He said he will look for a new team, but if he doesn’t find a good fit he will consider retiring.
