Jean Chrétien to get University of Winnipeg honorary degree
Former prime minister Jean Chrétien will receive an honorary degree from the University of Winnipeg next month.
Chrétien, who served as Canada's 20th prime minister from 1993 to 2003, will be presented with an honorary doctor of laws degree on June 12, during the university's spring convocation.
Also receiving honorary degrees from the University of Winnipeg this spring are:
- The Royal Winnipeg Ballet's David Moroni, who founded the RWB School's professional division in 1970.
- Robert J. Sawyer, an award-winning Canadian science fiction author best known for novels like Flashforward.
- Manitoba entrepreneurs John and Bonnie Buhler, who are best known for their company, Buhler Industries, as well as their philanthropic work.
The university's spring convocation will take place June 11 and 12.
