Hundreds of people are gathered on the law of the legislature in Winnipeg for the annual 4-20 celebration.
Every year on April 20 people rally in support of legalizing marijuana in the country.
Former Winnipeg police Staff Sgt. Bill Van der Graaf was at the rally Saturday. He told CBC News legalization of cannabis will help take drugs off streets and make the city safer.
It's not quite known how the event originated, but demonstrations have been held in cities across Canada and around the world for more than a decade.
Police in Winnipeg are on scene to keep an eye on the crowd.
