Four people, including two children, were taken to hospital Monday morning following a house fire near the Winnipeg airport.

Winnipeg police said the blaze broke out before noon at a home in the 300 block of Rutland Street.

Four people were inside the home when the blaze broke out and all managed to make it out of the home safely, according to district fire chief Tom Stadnyk.

Winnipeg police said they were taken to hospital as a precaution and were reportedly in stable condition following the blaze.

The fire caused about $80,000 worth of damage, according to fire officials. Officials were not able to immediately say what caused the blaze.
