The driver of a hog truck that rolled over on Highway 16 west of Portage la Prairie, Man., on Tuesday has been charged with imprudent driving.
The semi was flipped onto its side on the highway, near the junction with the Trans-Canada Highway, for several hours Tuesday afternoon.
Six hogs were destroyed due to various injuries they sustained in the rollover, while the remaining animals were picked up by their owners, according to RCMP.
The driver of the semi, a 20-year-old man, was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
The man has been charged with imprudent driving under the Highway Traffic Act, RCMP said in a news release.
Portage RCMP redirected traffic in the area for several hours following the rollover, and motorists were warned to expect some delays.
Manitoba highway officials announced shortly after 6 p.m. that the rollover scene was cleared.
