Winnipeggers will see scorching hot weather Thursday afternoon with a forecast high of 29 C.

After a brutal winter, chilly spring and record-tying cool weather last week, Winnipeg was overdue for some warm weather.

And it won’t just be Thursday that sees the mercury soar.

Temperatures throughout the weekend are expected to hover around 30 C, well above the seasonal norm of 26 C.

But it won’t be clear skies all weekend. CBC weather specialist Marilyn Maki said the hot weather will bring a risk of thunderstorm, especially Friday afternoon.
