RCMP say man in his 30s dead after head-on collision near Scanterbury
A 30-year-old man is dead following a crash on Highway 59 near Patricia Beach Wednesday evening.
RCMP said the crash happened just before 5:30 p.m. about three kilometres north of Scanterbury.
According to RCMP, a Honda Civic was trying to pass on a solid line and collided head-on with a lumber truck. The 30-year-old driver of the Honda Civic was pronounced dead at the scene.
The 39-year-old driver of the lumber truck was taken to hospital in stable condition.
RCMP closed the highway for several hours after the crash so officers could investigate.
Officers advised motorists to expect a delay when travelling in the area.
An RCMP traffic analyst and members of the Selkirk RCMP detachment are now investigating.
