Several intentionally-set grass fires in western Manitoba have RCMP concerned about the dangers posed to nearby homes.

The fires happened on Monday along Provincial Road 83 and 84 on the west side of St. Ambroise, located at the south end of Lake Manitoba.

The fires posed a potential danger to a number of homes and structures around St. Ambroise, RCMP said.

The Woodlands Fire Department, Manitoba Conversation and the Office of the Fire Commissioner investigated the blazes and determined they were not accidental.

No further information is available and police continue to investigate.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the RCMP at 204-857-4445 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
