Environment Canada has issued a weather advisory about the possibility of funnel clouds in southwest Manitoba.
"A weak low pressure system drifting over western Manitoba will provide favourable conditions for the development of funnel clouds this afternoon," the weather agency posted on its website.
"Several funnel clouds were reported in Saskatchewan yesterday as the low moved through that province."
The advisory goes on to say, "these types of funnel clouds are generated by weak rotation under rapidly growing clouds or weak thunderstorms. This weak rotation is normally not a danger near the ground.
"However, there is a chance that this rotation could intensify and become a weak landspout tornado."
If conditions become more favourable for the development of landspout tornadoes, Environment Canada said it will update its alert system and post watches or warnings.
