The kids' splash pad at The Forks Adventure Park is now open for the season.

The splash pad opened Sunday morning at 11 a.m. for the first time since 2013.

The pad, which is free to visit, opened late this year so it could be sprayed with a chlorine-resistant coating.

The pad opened just in time for a scorching hot day in Winnipeg. The mercury was expected to reach 31 C, five degrees higher than the seasonal norm for this time of year.

The splash pad will remain open daily from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. until Sept. 1.

The city’s spray pads are also open for the season and are open from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. daily.
