Folklorama attendance neared 413K visits this year
Folklorama, Winnipeg's annual multicultural celebration, attracted more than 400,000 visits over the past two weeks.
Folklorama organizers announced Monday that the festival, which celebrated its 45th anniversary this year, netted just under 413,000 visits to 43 pavillions between Aug. 3 and 16.
The latest attendance number is on par with previous years, including last year, organizers stated in a news release.
Many pavillions reported having sold-out shows and attendance numbers that exceeded expectations.
The festival attracted 142 group tours with visitors coming from across Canada and around the world, including Africa, France, Korea, Japan and the United States.
"We are so happy that people enjoyed Folklorama. It is due to the passion and commitment of our 20,000 incredible volunteers that we proudly celebrated our 45th annual festival," Folklorama president Amelia Sheocharan stated in the news release.
