Environment Canada issued a special weather statement for the Red River Valley and southeastern Manitoba as visibility dropped in some places to between 200-800 metres, making highway travel a little tricky.

In downtown Winnipeg, the skyline was cloaked in the low-lying clouds, washing away the familiar buildings along Portage Avenue.

The shroud of fog lifted later in the morning as the temperatures climbed.
