Fire destroys City of Winnipeg pumping station

A fire caused an estimated $1 million damage to a City of Winnipeg pumping station in St. Boniface.

A fire caused an estimated $1 million damage to a City of Winnipeg pumping station in St. Boniface.

It happened Sunday on Tache near Dumoulin Street, about a block away from the Provencher Bridge, shortly after 3 p.m.

The building was destroyed, according to fire officials. The city's other pumping stations will be able to handle the extra work, a city official said.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
