One person was taken to hospital in stable condition after a house fire Friday morning in Winnipeg.
The fire broke out at about 5:45 a.m. in a 2½-storey home on the 100 block of St. Cross Street in the city's Luxton neighbourhood.
It started in the basement, according to fire officials.
Heavy smoke poured out of windows on the second-floor as well as the main level as firefighters worked to gain the upper hand on the blaze.
It took just over an hour to extinguish the fire, which caused an estimated $300,000 in damage.
The cause is being investigated.
