The next FIFA Women's World Cup is still be two years away but excitement is building and preparations are well underway in Winnipeg.

The city is one of six Canadian locations that will host the soccer tournament.

On Wednesday, a number of delegates from FIFA and the national organizing committee, visited Winnipeg to scope out the hotels and facilities, including the main site for matches — Investors Group Field.

Officials said they were impressed by what they saw.

"Excellent. It was great," said Peter Montopoli, the organizing committee's CEO.

"Everyone, from the FIFA perspective, was very excited."

The FIFA Women's World Cup soccer event is held every four years. The 2015 event is expected to attract over one million spectators across the country, and millions of viewers worldwide.
