Feds announce $2M in funding for injured vets facility
Federal government commits $2 million over 10 years to stress injury services in Winnipeg
The federal government has announced $2 million in funding for Winnipeg’s injured veterans.
Tory MP Steven Fletcher was in Winnipeg on Wednesday to announce the cash influx, which will be spread over the next 10 years.
The money will go towards updating operating stress injury services in Winnipeg.
The current space at Deer Lodge is too small to handle its currently clientele, and the funding will secure a larger facility.
The news comes just weeks after the federal government closed a number of veterans affairs offices across Canada.
Fletcher told reporters the funding was about sending message to veterans.
